During this stage of evolution dating back over 45,000 years ago (others suggest it goes further back) there was only minimal development of societal structures.
FOOD was available only from their local environment –

- No preservation methods

- Wild foods
- Protein – Terrestrial & Marine Animals
- Carbohydrates (CHO) – Fruit, underground storage organs, Honey
- Fat – Animal Fat (marrow, offal) and Nuts and Seeds
FOOD PROCUREMENT:
- Hunting/ Fishing (Male)
- Gathering/Collecting/Foraging (Females and Children)
FOOD PREPARATION:
- Use of heat for cooking.
