Reiki

Hatsurei-ho, is a Reiki meditations.  It is intended as a form of self-training and includes elements of meditation. 

There are seven stages to this meditation.

You can feel great and will harmonise your mental and spiritual wellbeing by practising Hatsurei-ho every day.

 Achieve higher levels of healing and enlightenment through regular practice.

 

TO BEGIN:

  • Sit in your most comfortable meditation position. 

Sieza meditation position, which is kneeling with a straight back and palms resting on the thighs or

Sitting on a chair.

  • Close your eyes and take some deep breaths. 
  • Focus on the tanden, just below the navel. 

 

The next step is Mokunen - to clear your mind from any chatter and focus for meditation.

  • With intent, say "I will now begin Hatsurei-Ho"

 

The next step is Kenyoku - this means “dry bathing” to clear negative energy from the aura.

  • This can also be done before performing Reiki healing.
  1. Place the right hand on the left shoulder.  With the palm of the right hand, stroke diagonally down to the right-hand side of the waist.
  2. Perform the same action with the left hand, ending on the left-hand side of the waist.
  3. Repeat steps 1-2, two times.
  4. Place your left arm straight our in from of you. Place the right hand on the left shoulder and with the palm, stroke down the left arm until reaching the hand.
  5. Repeat step 4 with the right hand.
  6. Repeat steps 4-5, twice.
  7. Place hands, palms down, on thighs, ready for the next step.

Connect to Reiki energy

Raise your hands above your head and imagine Reiki energy flowing into your body. then move to the next step.

 

The next step is Joshin Kokyu-Ho

Joshin Kokyu-Ho is a Reiki exercise for purifying the spirit through breathing Reiki energy into the body and is the most important part of Hatsurei-ho. The breath is important to many spiritual practices. It happens in the present moment and is great for mindfulness.

Perform Joshin Kokyu-Ho can be with hands placed palm upwards on your lap, or with arms held above the head, the same position as connecting with Reiki

  • Focus on the tanden.
  • Slowly breathe through the nose. On the inhale, draw Reiki energy down from the top of you head down to the tanden.
  • On the exhale, spread the Reiki energy out to your entire body, or even outside your body, to the whole Universe!
  • Repeat this for as long as you feel comfortable.

The 2nd last step is Gassho

Gassho is a gesture with the hands held in a prayer position, in front of the chest.

Now you can recite the Five Reiki Principles:

  • Just for today, avoid anger
  • Just for today, do not  worry
  • Today, be thankful
  • Today, work with integrity
  • Today, be kind to all living beings

Mokunen  (The final step)

Place hands in the starting position and recite “I conclude Hatsurei-Ho.”

 

In total, the meditation can take 10-15 minutes. Try to do this on a daily basis, and feel the benefits.
